Outstanding Ostriches

Welcome back to everyone! We have a great term packed full with fun and we hope that you will join us every week and see what we get up to!

Our theme this term is Wierld, Wacky, Wonderful and Wild Animals.
Animals have the weirdest defense mechanisms and some do the strangest things ---- so this term we will find out a little bit more about them.

Ostriches are known for their kicking abilities!
.... and the cubs got the opportunity to kick (their shoes)!
Cubs lie on their back and loosen their shoes.
On 'go' the cub "kicks" his shoe backwards .... and ee who can kick the fartherest!
The cubs loved this and wanted to do it over and over again!
One Happy Cub!
Ostriches are very protective over their eggs. This game had the cub put a balloon on his left ankle. 2 Cubs were the 'mother ostrich' and they had to chase the 'thieves' by popping the balloons. Once a cubs balloon was popped, he became a mother ostrich and helped get rid of the other thieves!

The last 'thief' still standing!

We love doing Instruction each week where we teach the cubs something new.

Here the Lions are learning their knotting!
Could that be a Clove Hitch

Looks good to me!

We are investing 2 New Chums next week...

...... welcome guys!
We look forward to having you with us!
Ostriches are very fast! .... and if anyone has been to an Ostrich farm they will know what fun it is to ride an ostrich!

It was time for some of our own Ostrich races!

Cubs in Relay Formation.
The first cub piggy backs the second cub to a predetermined spot. The passenger then runs back and collects the next cub and takes them to the spot. The 3 cub then runs back and collects the 4th person and so on until you have a winner.

Just look at the enjoyment and fun they were having!

Grinning from 'ear to ear'

Some interesting facts:

An ostrich eye is bigger than its brain!
Ostriches cannot fly!
They do not drink water!

Each cub had the chance to draw their own ostrich - with 'special features'

Here stands Jordan and Michael! We would like to welcome Michael back into the pack after his heart operation and we know that he is going to be up to his old tricks pretty soon!

We have a few cubs who have completed their Leaping Wolf Badge and who will be "going up" to scouts soon. Here is one of them who started visiting scouts for the first time!

Till next Time
Keep Cubbing
