Mother's Day - 26th February 2010

We continue with our theme of 'celebrations' and this week we honoured our moms.
Our special guest of honour was Sue who is just an absolute genius on so many string instruments!

Some of the moms who joined us for coffee and cake!

Absolutely delicious!

Just look at all those weird and wonderful instruments!

Sue is excellent with the cubs

... all listening intently ...

Absolutely magnifident..

I wish you could hear these instruments..

of course we had to join in with some good old scout action!

"the violen, the vio, vio, violen, the violen, the violen"

A small thank you gift for Sue.

It was then time for our cubs to show Sue what they had been making.

Last week was spent making musical instruments for the Entertainer's Interest Badge.

The cubs had to sing 3 songs for Sue and show her their musical instruments.

After all that excitment, we invested 2 x new chums.

Mom placing her cap firmly on her head.

Our 2nd new chum getting her scarf from the group scouter.

Mom placing her cap on her head.

Done for another week!
Next we we have an extra special programme.
No uniform as everyone must come dressed up "carnival" fashion.

Till then

District Cub Gala - Sunday 21st Feb 2010

We held our District Cub Gala on Sunday 21st February 2010 - straight after the BP Parade.

We only had 5 participants - but made the most of it!

.... and we know that they had lots of fun ....

... and that is what it is all about ....

Noodle race

This was the funniest sight!
One cub had to sit inside a tube whilst a scout pulled / pushed.

The whistle blew and it was like a flash and they were at the other end of the pool!
The poor cub scout had to hang on for dear life!

But they just love this!
and it is important that there is interaction between the cubs and scouts.

We won this heat of the tug-of-war but then lost in the final.

There is usually a Pack Scouters race towards the end of the day. These were the scouters from 3rd Impala in Boksburg!

... and the District Cub Gala was won by 4th Benoni - well done guys!

This year we held our BP Sunday at the Boksburg High School

We normally hold it in the outdoor chapel in Arrowe Park but this year we have joined 2 districts and we decided to hold it in the other district for a change.

Lining up - getting ready to march!
There were approximately 10 groups represented here.

Reaffirming the Cub Promise.
Reaffirming the Scout Promise.

Two recipients received their Wood Badge.

Well done to both of them!

After the BP Service, parents stayed for tea and cakes whilst the cubs and scouts got ready for the Annual Gala.
